Looking beyond form.

In architecture, ‘Structural Expressionism’ looks beyond the form of a building and seeks to highlight how it’s constructed. Andrew’s painting techniques explore the same theme by applying paint in ways that celebrate the structure of a subject. We all know what a straw bale looks like, with Structural Expressionism we also know what it feels like to sit on one with bare legs.

After a successful career in advertising Andrew decided to return to his first love and paint full-time. He is meticulous in searching out the true and vibrant character of a subject and it’s this approach that’s gaining recognition. Some of the paintings included in his Looking Beyond Form Solo Exhibition at Next Door Gallery Studio enjoyed wide exposure during the six months they were on loan to the Government Lounge at Auckland Airport, where they welcomed visiting dignitaries and celebrities.
