Kiri Schumacher
Kiri established herself as a jeweller on completion of her BFA in 2002. She has been making jewellery ever since, carving forms in wax, shaping silver and gold with hammer, pliers and drill bits.
A sense of place is ever present in Kiri’s work – there is a continuum between her delicate yet resilient pieces, the landscape that she loves and the flora that it nurtures. “My work is very much about the New Zealand landscape. From the earth and of the earth, everything I make is about a conversation”.
Growing up in Taranaki, Kiri now lives in Auckland and exhibits throughout New Zealand and the UK.
