Copper Coin Weta | 1964

Sale price$275.00 NZD

Ian Phillips of Ianzart has constructed this lifelike weta from hand beaten copper and old copper coins. Have a close look at the detail and you'll see the year marked on the half penny coin with the Tiki motif while the rest of the body is made up of old 2 cent coins with the Kowhai flower.

A perfect gift for the insect lover in your life! This weta can be hung on the wall where he'll cast great shadow or placed on a display shelf. We have uploaded a real copper coloured weta for a comparison!

Ian, who is based in Hokitika, is a true craftsman, making sculpture by bending, beating and burning copper. He uses controlled heat patina that brings out rainbow colours in the metal by heating and cooling it to different temperatures.
